About lil' ole me..........

I live in the Pacific NW near Portland Oregon. I am a busy mom who adores her young son, teaches fitness classes, and who loves to decorate with anything found hanging from a tree. I love painted furniture, red doors, playing in my scrap room and will take years to decorate a room, just waiting for the perfect item. I didn't fall in love and marry until age 36. I almost didn't go out with him because he had an ugly black leather couch. He's the perfect man and stays out of all decorating decisions....... except he still won't let me paint a vanity that was his Grandmothers. In my spare time, I love watching Oprah and playing with my new fancy pants camera.
I started to blog just over 3 yrs ago with my personal blog. Today's Creative Blog was thought up and started all within 5 min. I craved seeing new blogs that had creative projects, so I figured there must be more people just like me who wanted the same thing. I wanted to create a place where I could highlight another creative blog everyday........ it soon became just about everyday. Never in a million years did I think I would meet so many people who I really call my friends, even though I have never met them face to face. It's been a wild ride that I hope to continue.

I get many questions about how I choose a blog to feature. When I come across a blog that tickles my creative side, I plop it in my FFF (future feature file) to save. I wish I was ultra organized and could say I pre-plan my blog posts for the week, month or longer........but truth be told, I scour my file on any given day that I think I have time to post. I find one that speaks to me......many, especially in the beginning are blogs I frequent.......and I create my post right there and then.
If you have a creative blog or you have a favorite one that you know I'd love, please send it along. Krjdemmon@comcast.net

PS. I would love to participate in tags, awards, etc..........but honestly I hardly have time to post. Thank you for thinking of me.

Linden Street Shopping Spree at JCPenney's!

A few weeks ago, I received an email from BlogHer asking if I'd like to be part of a $500 shopping spree with them and JCPenney's Linden Street Collection.
I mean really, did they think anyone would turn them down? While we waited for our e-gift certificates, they sent a few photo samples of the products we would soon get to choose from. I wanted to be smart about this and get items we actually needed or could update one of my garage sale items. Once the new line was on JCP.com, I started to get excited. Once we received our gift certificates, we were free to shop online, or in one of their stores. I figured I would shop in one of their stores........why? Because I wanted to fondle the items, see them up close and........... basically avoid shipping costs.......the truth is out. They did offer free shipping on the 4th of July, but by the time I saw that, it was 9pm and I couldn't possibly be rushed. Soon after the online shipping date expired, but I had until the 21st for in store shopping. After my vacation, I got up early and headed to Clackamas Town Center in Oregon. No sales tax........I'm sounding really cheap aren't I? Or maybe I'm just greedy. I arrive in the store and head directly to the sales clerk asking where all the Linden Street products were. As I quickly made it to the lamps, my heart was pounding with excitement. But my lamps weren't there. Surely they would have them in the back room......or at another store, so I didn't stress. Linden Street has a limited collection in store at this point. Sheets, bath towels, drapes, dishes and a few decor items.
I picked out some 100% cotton sheets, 300 count, some beautiful towels in a warm butterscotch color and headed to the register. Once there, the gal was just as excited as I was with my shopping spree. We look up the lamps.....my heart starts to skip.......then she tells me that they are an online only item. NO!!!! I guess my son isn't the only one that doesn't pay attention to detail. Details details...I wanted to throw myself on the floor and throw a 3 yr old tantrum. I quickly gather myself, telling myself that this is still an incredible opportunity.......basically get over yourself Kim. I go to the dishes, pick out two sets.......cuz you gotta have at least 8 place settings, right?
I charge over to the sheets and pick up a pair for the guest bedroom, and one more set for our bed.........and I may as well stock up on towels. You can always use new sheets and towels. Once at the register, they keep swiping their $15 off coupon for every $100 I spend.......I keep running around grabbing anything Linden Street. I ended up buying a bed set for my guest bedroom. It wasn't my cup of tea, but I liked it best from the others they had. But once on the bed, it looks nice. I do like it. Photos are so hard to take of beds. The experience was so fun. I only wish they would have had a larger selection. I actually had a hard time buying $500 worth. Now granted, I could have banked up some bad karma and bought non Linden Street, but I just couldn't do it. So if you come visit me, you'll have a great bed to sleep in and really fluffy towels........not to mention great dishes to eat off of. In the end I bought: 8 bath towels 6 or 8 hand towels 2 sets of dishes large hurricane ~ my husband totally doesn't get this one One bed set with bed skirt, comforter, shams 3 sets of 300 ct cotton sheets I think that's it.......... The lamps are a distant memory........kind of. Thank you Blog Her! Thank you JCPenney's!
